Neurodivergent Cognitive and Sensory Support Needs Checklist

Hello Y’all,

Does anyone have a checklists and guides for employers or neurodivergent folks, such as sensory and cognitive support needs checklists for employees, sensory needs supportive spaces checklists or guides, and communication needs guides? What I have is more autism focused, but often application to other neurodivergent folks.

This request is trickier, because of the structure-agency tension, particularly in more hierarchical organizations, but does anyone have any employer guides for supporting employees with PDA (persistent drive for autonomy), “ODD”, and other diagnoses like schizophrenia that are highly based on structural conditions?

This is a really interesting question, @boyfromthefuture. Like you say, there are so many diagnoses or forms of neurodivergence that are so deeply structural (i.e. - they wouldn’t be a ‘problem’ if the systems around us weren’t so inaccessible to so many people!), so a check list would seem to almost inherently avoid the more fundamental issues. But I also can very much see the value of having some simple things to go through, to avoid missing obvious tweaks that could improve people’s working lives, even if you’re also working to shift the wider systems we’re stuck in.

I guess the balance is how to hold the necessarily-political dimensions of it, while still making these basic forms of information available. Very keen to see what others share here!
