Hey! My (HR) organisation (grassroots horizontal remote setting) is trying to build a feedback structure.
I am currently hosting biyearly 1-1 feedback and reflection sessions and group evaluations but until now colleagues are very hesitant to give negative feedback officially, and evaluation processes are generally viewed as shaming, uncomfortable , controlling and capitalistic - performance focused.
Our non-hierarchical working structure also does not help to provide a clear feedback structure.
Do you know any freelancers/organisations that could support with providing tailored training?
Do you have any other advice on building a feedback structure in horizontal settings?

I’m curious why evaluation processes are viewed this way in your org? is it based on people’s experiences elsewhere, or an issue with the framing of reviews? an evaluation isn’t inherently negative. ideally it’s a space for mutual feedback, reflection and learning, and support of personal and professional growth, and feedback is a huge part of that. feedback is a gift that we give to each other to support us to be better colleagues/comrades/people. yes, it’s hard for a lot of us to give constructive criticism, but how else do we support each other to be better? this is SO important in a horizontal structure! There are models you can use to structure your feedback to give it the best chance of landing well: SIFT for example. The Hum have a good training on feedback that takes our individual experiences and identities into account.
