RadHR reading group?

Hello! Not sure if people have already spoken about this in the past, but am wondering if anyone would be up for starting a bimonthly reading group with me? Something low pressure which we could do over Zoom on an evening/lunchtime, perhaps taking it in turns to choose an article or book then come together to discuss + reflect… let me know if you’d be up for this and we can find a good time.

What sort of books etc would you be interested in reading for this? just to give me a flavour of if it would suit my interest and learning style  sounds lovely in theory

I’m very open to ideas tbh! And also happy to go for articles/blogs if it’s more likely people will have time to read ahead of meetings… I’ve been eyeing up this book on platform cooperatives recently which looks good, but equally up for looking over more of a work-y read (the Sistren Community Legal toolkit has been on my list for ages). What would you be up for reading? Maybe we can take it in turns to choose reading materials, so there’s some variety?

I am up for this - tbh also up for having a really interesting podcast/ documentary etc - doesn’t need to be reading and in fact nice to mix it up like you said with articles etc.

Maybe one to suggest in the next lunch meet so more folks see it  perhaps it’s just getting 3/4 people to start it off

I like this idea

I would be interested in this!

I like the idea of mixing it up with a documentary or similar! Okay great. Maybe we can agree a date that suits the four of us and share it in the next Lunch Meet to see if others are up for joining? Perhaps a date in late July/early August? I can choose something to read for the first one unless anyone else is keen to start things off.

Exciting!

Hello! I’m wondering about just setting up a breakout room to discuss ideas for the reading group / come up with a bit of a plan in the next Lunch Meet on Thurs 30th July 1-2pm - how does this time and date work for people? The link to sign up is here > RadHR Lunch Meet #21 Tickets, Thursday 30 July  •  12 PM - 1 PM UTC | Eventbrite

Alternatively happy to host a Zoom one evening this/next month if that’s easier for folks?

Heya! Just to say this is going ahead, will be hosting a break out group. I don’t have a specific reading material for this one but maybe we can all chat about what we’d like to bring going forward? Hope you can make it!

I’m hoping to make it to the lunchmeet, sorry I haven’t replied - very busy at events then on leave for 2 weeks. I’m about to go on leave for another 2 weeks (lucky, I know!) so I’ll be able to attend a reading group thing in late Aug/ Sept but happy if others go ahead without me on the first one!

Hello!

Lykke and I had a lovely chat in last week’s Lunch Meet and agreed the best next step was to just lock in a date and see how things go

For those who are interested in joining a Bi-monthly RadHR Reading Group from October, details are as follows:

  • WHAT IS THIS? A bi-monthly, informal reading group for people in the RadHR community keen to chat with others and share resources.

  • WHAT ARE WE READING? For this inaugural session, we are reading Sistren’s Community Legal Toolkit.

  • HOW DO WE DECIDE WHAT WE’RE READING? We’re going to try rotating who chooses the reading each time, so we can take turns sharing something we’d like to discuss as a group. In future, we will mix up what we’re reading – and would like to cover a wide range of materials from books, articles, blogs, toolkits, reports, podcasts, and documentaries, as long as they have a link to organisational development/policymaking/collective process in some form.

  • WHEN IS IT? Thursday 22nd October 2026, 1-2pm – then every two months thereafter (alternating months with Lunch Meets)

  • WHO IS THIS FOR? Anyone who’d like to join!

  • DO I HAVE TO HAVE READ THE WHOLE BOOK/ARTICLE/BLOG? While it will make for the most fruitful discussion if everyone has had a chance to read what’s shared ahead of the call, we know people are busy – just read what you can, even if it’s a small excerpt, and if all else fails just come along to say hi!

  • HOW DO I JOIN? You can sign up for the reading group event here
