Up until today, private messages have been encrypted.
Unfortunately Discourse—this forum’s open source software developer—no longer supports that feature. We’ve left the plugin on as long as possible, but today it finally broke several things.
Needless to say, the core team never reads any private messages, but we think it’s important for you to know that they’re no longer encrypted, and if we rooted around in a database somewhere, we could theoretically read them. Again, we won’t be doing this.
Existing encrypted messages will now contain a ‘Decrypt’ button you can use if you’d like to continue the direct member-to-member conversation.
