Hi everyone,
My colleague Razia Aziz and I are running free taster sessions over the next three weeks for our upcoming programme on feedback skills for individuals and/or teams.
Our experience of working with many social justice organisations has been that feedback avoidance is at the root of a lot of avoidable tension, misunderstanding, conflict, mistrust and burnout.
Feedback avoidance can manifest as important things being left unspoken, people being talked about rather than offered direct feedback, staff disengaging or leaving and frustrations coming out sideways.
With differences in power, seniority, influence and lived experience in the mix and a challenging external landscape to navigate, offering direct, grounded feedback can feel even more complicated - especially under pressure and in endless heatwaves!
However, giving and receiving feedback well is a skill that can absolutely be learnt.
Healthy feedback cultures foster clearer communication, better collaboration, stronger leadership, more trust, belonging and creativity and less burnout - all crucial elements for building the kinder, more just world we want and sustaining ourselves as we do so.
If that sounds relevant to your work, please join us for a quick and playful dive into feedback on one of the following dates - sign up here:
- Tuesday, 18 August from 12-1pm on Zoom
- Thursday, 27 August from 8:30-9:30am on Zoom
- Wednesday, 2 September from 12-1pm on Zoom
Feel free to reach out to me directly if you have any questions.
I hope everyone is taking good care in the heat!
Julia
