We have been going through third sector summaries of the new(ish) employment rights act ( Employment Rights Act 2025 - Acas ) and were wondering if 1. anyone knows about it from a RadHR perspective (ideally a cooperative but still interesting if not) and could do some sharing around it or 2. anyone knows of a good training, especially with cooperatives in mind?
I know that @Abbie_PeopleSupport and the PSC team have done a lot of work on this (co-op specific) and are currently updating several of the guides they’ve done with us on our website to reflect the ERA 2025 changes, but not sure if there are any particular resources they might point others to?
Legends! thanks for flagging that Liam! I’ll take a look at these and then maybe come back if there’s any further queries I have
I’d be kinda interested to chat about these changes and how people are finding they’re actually changing things for them, maybe in a lunch meet later down the line once more changes come into force..
@LykkeTripod As @liam says we’re doing this through the guide updates, and we aim to share what the legislative changes are as well as our advice around implementing them cooperatively. If you want the first-hand legal side, there are a lot of different law firms sharing updates and interpretations. For example, Anthony Collins Solicitors (who offer support to co-ops) have an Employment Rights Act Hub, which you can sign up to receive notifications when they post new updates. This is one of many sources we’re using at People Support to stay up-to-date. I’d be happy to be part of a lunch meet later on to talk about ERA changes
There will be a lot of changes over the next couple of years (the main legislation from last year - the ERA 2025 - provides the basis for the government to bring in secondary legislation to make specific changes, and they are still consulting on the details about quite a lot of it).
Thank you so much for your work, it’s valued. I will follow the guide once it’s up and in the meantime thank you for the solicitor’s website, I have signed up - certainly more understandable than the government guidance I have found so far. Seems as though there’s nothing that affects us immediately but great to plan ahead
