Anyone in Australia or have local contacts!

Hi, I’m Nat.

I am currently freelancing being in recovery from the moral injury experienced by Government corruption in the advocacy agency I built and worked in for 20 years.

My current work focuses on helping orgs be more human with an especial spotlight on the inherent individual responsibility assigned to workers by concepts such as ‘resilience’ and ‘self-care’ compared to organisational and collective responsibilities.

I’d love to connect with other radicals in this hemisphere who are doing changemaking from within organisations. :loudspeaker: Is there anyone in Australia in this group (I’m in Melbourne)?

I ended up here because I came across Liam’s book (Anarchists in the Boardroom) when I lived in the UK and I looked Liam up to see what he might be up to now, this morning, as part of my quest to continue to straddle this life of social change under capitalism and the co-option of NGOs.

Thanks @Nat! Nice to see you popping up in this context! Will have an ask around… If @richd is who I think he is, he may have some Aotearoa contacts doing this kind of work, linked to Enspiral and Loomio there? (If it’s not the same Rich I’m thinking of tho, apologies!)

Hi Nat,

I’m based in Boorloo (Perth) and part of the Climate Justice Union, and also a former public servant. We’re based in WA but have members nationally. We’re an incorporated association but also a bunch of ‘radicals’ very much trying to navigate a different path than being an NGO co-opted by government, and instead working to meet the needs of real humans and particularly those most impacted by economic and social and climate injustices. We have several projects in disaster resilience and resist the narrative of ‘resilience’ and individual responsibility. Instead we are working on creating spaces for collective care and mutual aid etc. Happy to chat, or check out our website or join us at climatejusticeunion.org We have several members in Naarm. Take care, Sallie
